The Insider Who Stepped Outside

Three decades in the system. Now sharing the questions and provocations we need to surface.

About Me

The Journey

The ideas in Training Is Broken are rooted in lived experience—messy, imperfect, and honest.

For 32 years, I held global leadership roles at organizations like Unilever, Korn Ferry, Gartner, and the Center for Creative Leadership. I worked across research, innovation, consulting, and talent development—being a part of and contributing to many of the systems I'm now questioning.

I witnessed billions spent on training that didn't change behavior. I watched competency frameworks promise clarity but deliver constraint. Eventually, I realized the fundamental architecture of organizational learning was designed for a world that no longer exists—one of information scarcity and gatekept expertise.

The Catalyst

What fascinates me today isn’t AI as a tool, but AI as a mirror. It exposes that our constraint was never access to information. It was always curiosity and emotional relevance. We are using 20th-century maps for 21st-century terrain.

Training Is Broken isn't a declaration that L&D is worthless. It is an invitation to see the obsolescence of our old models so we can rebuild them from first principles.

The Stance

I don’t claim to have all the answers. My goal is to surface constructive provocations and offer "seeds"—like the L.I.Y. Method and SPARK Approach—for you to explore.

This work is grounded in patterns observed across multiple geographies, not peer-reviewed academic research. Take what resonates, challenge what doesn't, and use it to navigate a world where the old maps no longer work.
